Many people believe that since Dubai is a relatively young city, there is not much to see or visit there. In fact, the Arab Emirates is investing more and more in the development of tourism every year, so everyone will find something to do here. And here is a selection of fresh ideas from MTX Connect:
Miracle Garden
Dubai is a futuristic metropolis that has grown out of the sands of the desert over the past couple of decades, a city known for fascinating world records: the tallest skyscraper in the world, the most expensive hotel in the world, the largest shopping center, etc. In 2013, on Valentine’s Day, in the district of Dubailand the world’s largest natural flower garden was launched – Dubai Miracle Garden.
Since the opening, this large-scale masterpiece of florist art has been recognised as the most romantic attraction not only in the UAE but in the entire Middle East. On the territory of the park, you will find a lake, tens of millions of flowers of seventy species shaped into animals, fairy-tale characters, castles, and even an eighteen-meter copy of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper. Hard to believe that this area was recently a dead desert! The composition in the shape of an Emirates aircraft A380 is the most eye-catching. The model consists of over 500,000 fresh flowers and live plants. Since 2016, it even holds a Guinness World Record for the biggest flower structure in the world. So, if you don’t know where to go for a romantic walk, then the Miracle Garden will be a splendid choice. To avoid queuing, buy tickets in advance.
Museum of Future
The opening of the museum was planned for the World EXPO 2020 in Dubai. But because of the pandemic, both the exhibition and the opening of the museum were postponed until autumn 2021. The museum already gained international recognition even before its opening thanks to its unique design. Once opened, it will be a part of the iconic architecture of the city. This mind-blowing building is one of the most complex pieces of architecture in the world, and in the near future, it will be among the most meaningful landmarks in Dubai.
The museum is dedicated to innovations and explores alternative solutions in the field of artificial intelligence. The main exhibition is devoted to future technologies which will transform our world by addressing challenges in areas such as health, water, food, transportation, and energy. Four levels of the museum will focus on the possible futures of outer space resource development, ecosystems and bioengineering, health, and wellness. The last floor is designed to awaken the interest of the younger generations in technologies that can change the world.
As befits from the museum of the future, the building is powered by a solar power plant. In addition, the museum features reflecting pools, green space, a bike path, and a recreational use area. The Museum of Future will announce the opening date, visiting hours, and admission later on the official website.
Global Village
This fair takes guests on a journey around the world in just one day! From October to April, over sixty countries offer their traditional products and cuisine in thirty thematic pavilions – each representing the richness and culture of a different country. You could enjoy colourful decorations, live music, gastronomic delights from around the world, an amusement park, motorcycle races, evening shows, and of course world’s finest shopping experience. You could find products from all over the world: sweets from the Middle East, handmade Persian carpets, fragrant Indian spices, exotic fruits from Thailand, Arabic perfume with woody notes of oud — leaving empty-handed would be really hard!
Al Seef
If you have already seen the main sights of Dubai, it’s time to move on to the less obvious, but no less attractive, points of the program. The Dubai Creek canal is home to Al Seef – a heritage area featuring old architecture. An added attraction is the dhows (traditional wooden boats). A couple of euros can get you to the opposite side of the river – Fahidi historical neighbourhood (as an option you could start your walk through the old-world district from there, reaching the Al Fahidi metro station).
In the maze of narrow streets of Al Seef, there is a shop with the largest perfume bottle, according to Guinness World Records (2015). Five hundred litres of Arabian fragrances flaunt in front of the shop, so it will be complicated not to notice it. Besides visiting an Arabian 1950s-style souk with regional crafts and textiles, do not forget to try local cuisine in one of the waterfront restaurants. After the sunset, when traditional lanterns are switched on, you could enjoy a fairy-tale atmosphere of the old Arabic world.
Hatta Lake
The mountain resort Hatta is located 135 kilometres from Dubai, close to Oman/UAE border in the Hajar Mountains. Here you will find a beautiful lake and a traditional village with reconstructed mountain dwellings. The town has already become a popular destination for lake kayaking, and with the ambitions of Dubai, will soon grow into a world-class eco-resort. If you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the scenery of the mountains with the turquoise lake, then you should definitely come here!
From April 1, we have expanded our coverage and now include UAE. So, order your MTX Connect SIM card now and enjoy your trip to Dubai staying connected!
